• Angel
Spring 2006
12"x18"

Memories of my past life flash by
All just fragments of my goodbye
Oh father, who art in heaven
Save me from this ruin
Ebbing and flowing and gone with a breeze
I have lived; now make me free

This is the first watercolor I've ever done, not terrific.. but at least I have an excuse.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Butterfly
Jan 2003
8.5"x 11"

Nothing really to say, I was fooling around one day and came up with this.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Butcher's Revenge
April 2007
17.5"x 10"

Slightly inspired by the famous Escher drawing, plus hands are always fun to draw. Drew most of it in detention (thank you Mr. Duerring)

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Convergence
Dec 2006
9"x 6"

Inspired by something I saw on deviantArt. One of the smaller pieces I did last minute to try to get enough ready for the AP test.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Midnight Blue
Dec 2005
18"x 24"

Did this for class, I think the assignment was to do a monochromatic piece. Having just read “The Hobbit” a few weeks prior, I decided to draw a dragon like the one in the book. Although, there are some awkward parts in the actual figure of the dragon, I was fairly satisfied that I was able to achieve the foggy, dream-like atmosphere that I was going for.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Fire
Dec 2006
9"x 6"

I drew this from a slightly edited photo I found on flickr. Thought it would be cool to draw it with really high contrast and warm colors. Halfway through, I realized that the wrinkles on the guy's feet looked like fire so I went with it.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Girl
Dec 2005
5"x 7"

No story, no description for this one. Drew it from a magazine.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Go!
Jan 2006
12"x 15"

Third part of a series I did during junior year. Throughout the entire series, I used very bright colors to try to get across an optimistic theme. However, this one in particular, I concentrated more so on shapes and abstractions than any of the other two.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Master Chief
Dec 2004
8.5"x 11"

Drew this off of the Halo 2 box. I decided not to draw a background because I didn’t want it to take away from the figure. It took a surprisingly long time to do something this small... I think it took me a total of about 9 hours to draw over a course of 3 days. Unfortunately, a lot of it has smudged off and so the darks aren't quite as dark anymore.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 •
Tears of the Moon
May 2006
20"x 23"

Out of the cloudy drifts
From the shadow sheet of night
On tides of musk a moth uplifts
Its wings weary from the flight

Above the leaves and beyond the sky
There is a being; brilliant, bright
None may deny its flawless shape
A perfect ball of light

A little brown flit
Seeking consummation
It makes its way
Led by lunar navigation

As the air thins and the winds blow
The moth approaches the unapproachable
In minutes the moth begins to slow
The cold is unbearable

As it falls through the sky, the moth hopes to be saved
By the omnipresent star Gods that watch all who pray
The moth falls and crashes onto a road unpaved
Into a pile of leaves to fly another day

-----
The assignment was to draw something from a piece of literature. I also wrote the poem, can't decide which I like more.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).

 • Sunrise, Sunset
April 2007
14"x 20"

This was the first time I had ever used oil pastel. My only regret is that I wish I worked with a bigger piece of paper. It was really hard getting details into such a small area with oil pastel.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Saint Francis in Ecstacy
Dec 2005
18"x 24"

This was done in sophomore year, the assignment was to recreate a piece by an old master. I chose to recreate Saint Francis in Ecstasy by Francisco de Zurbaran.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Evolution
Dec 2006
9"x 6"

Drawn after trying to imitate Giger's biomechanical style. It's supposed to symbolize mankind's technological evolution as we slowly become more and more reliant on machines... so much so that this man is actually becoming one himself. However, despite the horrendous mutation, he appears to be completely content with it and perhaps even ignorant of it completely.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Rose
June 2004
8.5"x 11"

Not too much to say... I had just gotten my charcoal set and I wanted to try it out. To this day, I'm a little unsure about the aura I drew around it.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Shoes
Aug 2004
8.5"x 11"

I was about to throw away my shoes because they were cracked and really worn down. But after looking at them again, I thought that they'd be really cool to draw. Like a lot of the graphite drawings I've done, this one has faded as well.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Cooperation
Jan 2004
8.5"x 11"

Although, this drawing was inspired by M. C. Escher’s 'Drawing Hands', I did not use his piece as a reference. My remake of this concept also has a bit of symbolism in the clothes. The arm on the left is wearing a suit, which represents the rich and the arm on the right is wearing an old sweatshirt, which represents the lower classes. The drawing is saying that everyone should work together and help each other out regardless of class, like how the hands are helping each other out in the drawing. Very 'awe' right?

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Shoes v2.0
Dec 2007
8.5"x 11"

Following my previous pair of shoes, I thought it'd be cool to draw each pair of shoes I owned before tossing them out. I wanted to do the drawing different than I had done it last time, so I decided to do it in colored pencil instead of graphite and draw them in a different arrangement.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Spiderman
June 2004
8.5"x 11"

In honor of the release of Spiderman 2 in theatres right before (by the way, Spiderman 3 was such a bust), I decided to draw this. The city and the building in the background were thought of by myself and not drawn from any previously made comic.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • We are but puppets
Dec 2006
9"x 6"

A bit surreal, I had been toying with the idea of a silhouette city for a while so I drew a bit of an abstracted one. The sun being a ball of string was a bit spontaneous but it really makes the title work out nicely. I loved the touch of watercolor at the end of this, especially the purple/yellow gradient on the bottom.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • The Artist
Nov 2006
15"x 16"

Modeled by the amazing Gary Hammell. This drawing took just about forever to finish (curse colored pencils!!!) and although there are some awkward moments (such as the hair), I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I titled it 'The Artist' because it's supposed to represent the imagination and thoughts that go on in an artist's head.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Untitled
May 2004
8.5"x 11"

Completely random. My friend, Gary actually helped draw a large portion of this drawing. Unfortunately, this drawing kept smudging in my sketch book so I had to clean it up a lot in Photoshop. Hopefully, I didn't damage any of it

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Time is a Terrible Thing
June 2006
13"x 18"

I came across this idea while watching a commercial for a skin moisturizer product. The commercial showed a person’s skin cracking and deteriorating. I thought it was a really cool idea so I decided to use that same kind of imagery but for a different concept. I never finished this drawing completely. I was gonna do more with the clock and I had originally planned to draw broken pieces of skin floating across the sky. Unfortunately, I never got around to it. Also, the scanner totally owned this drawing with that line along the right center :-(

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Unlock
Dec 2005
12"x 15"

First of a series of three I did during junior year. Throughout the entire series, I used very bright colors to try to get across an optimistic theme. In this particular piece, I scattered a variety of different icons that represent hope and optimism.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
 • Your Move
Sept 2006
18"x 24"

That fantastically handsome man you see in this drawing was modeled off of Alex Mulhearn. The assignment was to draw someone 'in' something. So I decided to draw a person in a chess game. This drawing took a lot of thought and planning before I could even start actually drawing it. I had to pick an angle to draw from as well as plot out the entire board. This planning step alone took a lot of time and lots of sketches.

Click here to go directly to the image (best quality).
